Judy Pavlowski Oprisko believes life is too short not to be doing something truly enjoyable and fulfilling to you.
"If you do not like the situation or path that you are currently on, recognize that and make the changes that are necessary to get you on the right path," she said.
As the vice president of human resources and the corporate compliance officer at Allied Services, she noted how important it is to treat others as you would wish to be treated and to be kind and respectful in the process.
"You do not know what people are dealing with in their lives," she explained. "You cannot change other people, and all you can do is change the way you react to them."
The VP is responsible for the operation of the human resources department providing consultation to management on strategic areas like compensation, benefits, training and development, budget and employee relations. She also provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization's HR operations and is responsible for setting, enforcing and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures and best practices, and identifying and implementing strategic talent management goals to provide the organization with the best people talent.
As Allied Services' chief compliance officer, Oprisko ensures the organization functions in both a legal and ethical manner, while meeting its business goals and mission. She develops compliance programs, reviews company policies and advises management on possible risks.
Oprisko is a member of the human resources committee for Marley's Mission, coach for Dunmore youth sports, member of the Dunmore Elementary PTA and past treasurer and president of the Dunmore Middle School PTA.
A graduate of Dunmore High School, she earned her bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of Scranton and became employed at Allied Services right after graduation. She is celebrating her 30th anniversary with the company this year. She began calculating pension benefits for retirees and her role within the department continued to grow by expanding into other areas of human resources like compensation and benefits, recruitment and employee relations.
Allied Services has been supportive over the years with continuing education support, and Oprisko completed the 10 tests to become a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) and then tested to be recognized as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by obtaining that certification. In the area of compliance, she became certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).
"Allied Services has been a great company to enjoy a career," she said. "The leaders invest in their employees and provide so many opportunities for advancement, growth and learning."
Oprisko attributes her success to the great education she received, the opportunities for continuing education, and the growth and development that were available to her at Allied Services.
"My ability to get exposure to different business lines and learn and grow in my position has been unbelievable," she said. "The company leadership is open to new ideas and do what is in the best interest of the individuals they care for and serve and the employees that do an outstanding job every day. The leadership is forward thinking and balance and adopt to changes necessary to keep up with the ever-changing healthcare environment."
Her parents, Tony and Marie Pavlowski, have always been her greatest supporters by providing her with a strong loving foundation growing up, a great college education and most importantly assisting with raising her children while she worked full time.
"They have been such a big part of my childrens' - Kyle, Maren and Keegan- lives, and have assisted me in guiding them into being the great people they are today," she concluded.
