Patricia Dunsinger attributes her success to dedication, hard work and honesty.
“I try to treat people the way I want to be treated. I do not ask anyone to do something you yourself would not do,” she admits.
As the Chief Financial Officer, or CFO, at Wayne Memorial Health System Inc., she is responsible for all financial oversight of the system and reports findings to the Chief Executive Officer and board of directors overseeing Wayne Memorial Health System, Wayne Memorial Hospital, Wayne Memorial Long Term Care, Wayne Memorial Health Foundation and Wayne Health Services.
Prior to her position as chief financial officer at Wayne Memorial Health System, Dunsinger was the system’s Chief Accountant. She also served for eight years as the CFO for the system’s independent affiliate, Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, a federally qualified health center (FQHC).
With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare finance arena, Dunsinger is experienced in working with various levels of management and staff, reporting to boards of directors and committees, involvement with consultants regarding investments, bonds, pensions, auditors, actuaries, etc. She is knowledgeable about third party reimbursements including Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care as well as cost reporting for acute care, skilled nursing and FQHCs. She has been involved with the PA Rural Health Model since its inception in 2019 when Wayne Memorial became one of the five pilot hospitals in the program and is familiar with Value Based Purchasing and Accountable Care Organizations.
Two strong people have mentored Dunsinger. The first led her down a path into the field of accounting and healthcare finance, Frank Yakupcin, CPA. The second mentor was Michael Clifford, the now-retired former CFO of Wayne Memorial. She spent 21 years working with Clifford, learning the ins and outs and aiding the growth of Wayne Memorial Health System.
Prior to Wayne Memorial she was a staff accountant for Andres Yakupcin and Co.
Dunsinger received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from King’s College, and is a graduate of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Wayne program.
Her husband of almost 25 years, Jonathan, her children Emma and Anna and her mother and sisters have always been a huge support system for which she is very grateful.
She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Institute of Management Accountants.
She serves on the Honesdale High School Occupational Advisory and Planning Participatory Planning committee for vocational education programs and is on the board of the Keystone Accountable Care Organization, the Wayne County Public Library and Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers. Dunsinger is also a township auditor; a past member of Christ Episcopal Church and reviews and prepares financial reports for the Diocese of Bethlehem; served as cheerleading coach for Biddy Basketball; and is a member of the Wayne County Council of Republican Women.
