As the CFO, Bryant oversees the financial management and reporting of Honat Bancorp, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, The Honesdale National Bank, which has assets of over $800 million.
This includes oversight of investments and the mortgage center, as well as providing input and analysis to contribute to the bank’s strategic plan and growth strategies.
“On a daily basis I coordinate with colleagues to provide visibility to data that drives our product and service assessment and competitive advantages,” she notes.
Having graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in economics, she then received her master’s degree in business administration from Villanova University.
Throughout her career, Bryant has been fortunate enough to work for great companies where she has been awarded the opportunity to grow professionally.
She began at the Vanguard Group and after moving back to NEPA, transitioned to The Honesdale National Bank.
“Both of these organizations instill a culture that supports conservative business practices to manage the everchanging landscape and challenges arising. The board of directors at the bank is committed to its shareholders, communities and employees and this commitment presented me with numerous chances to become involved in my community and continue my own development as both an employee and a community member,” she notes.
Raised by a family who encouraged she and her sister to pursue their goals without limitation with the full support of their parents, Mary and Walter Markowski, she also married into a family of talented, hardworking individuals whose success is evident and has garnered the respect and appreciation of the community.
She is also blessed with a great network of friends who feel like an extended family to her.
She is a trustee on the Wayne Memorial Hospital and Systems board; past trustee of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Foundation; leader of the Calkins Ag 4H and a board member of the PA Bankers Health Care Consortium.
Each year, the families of Calkins Creamery host the “Herd the Curd” 5K/10K run/walk on the family dairy farm each year to benefit the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund held through the Wayne County Community Foundation to benefit Wayne County residents with physical and developmental needs and nonprofit organizations. The race has raised $96,500 since it began in 2013.
Her mentor has been Thomas Sheridan, Jr. of Honesdale National Bank who has provided challenges and opportunities that allowed her to grow and increase her contribution to the bank .
“He exudes the highest of level of values and work ethic, both personally and professionally, and he is one of the smartest people I know,” she said.
Her husband, Zack, is her greatest supporter. “He keeps me grounded, yet gives me the freedom to pursue opportunities. He is my sounding board and as a dairy farmer, exudes dedication and perseverance as he battles the elements every day,” she said.
In addition, her children, Caleb and Abraham, remain inspiration to continue pursuing goals in her life.
